Terms of use

Last updated 17 October 2026

These terms apply to anyone who uses WalkIn, a service run by Nerdware (Pty) Ltd ("we", "us"), Johannesburg, South Africa. Each dealership also signs a separate service agreement with us. If that agreement conflicts with these terms, the agreement wins.

1. What WalkIn is

WalkIn lets car dealerships talk to customers on WhatsApp through an AI sales assistant called Dan, and gives dealership staff tools for leads, bookings, finance hand-overs, workshop bookings and reports.

2. For customers chatting with a dealership

  • You're chatting with the dealership. Dan is an AI assistant that works for the dealership, and its staff can join the chat at any time.
  • Monthly amounts Dan works out are illustrative only. They are not a finance offer or quote. Real finance depends on the bank's assessment.
  • Prices, stock and availability come from the dealership and can change. The dealership confirms the final details of any sale.
  • Please don't send bank details, ID numbers or finance documents in the chat. Use the secure upload link the dealership sends you.

3. For dealership staff

  • Keep your sign-in details private and don't share your account.
  • Use WalkIn only for the dealership's legitimate business, and treat customer information in line with POPIA and the dealership's policies.
  • Message customers only within WhatsApp's rules and the customer's consent. Marketing needs an opt-in.
  • Connecting your Google or Microsoft calendar and email is optional. You can disconnect at any time from your account page.

4. Acceptable use

Don't use WalkIn to send spam, mislead customers, break the law, or try to break, overload or get around the security of the service.

5. AI answers

Dan is designed to stay within the dealership's stock, prices and rules, but AI can make mistakes. Important details such as price, specification, availability and finance are confirmed by the dealership's staff before a sale.

6. Your information

How we handle personal information is set out in our privacy notice. Dealerships own their customer data. We process it only to provide WalkIn.

7. Availability

We work hard to keep WalkIn running around the clock, but it can be interrupted by maintenance, or by problems with WhatsApp, Google, Microsoft or internet providers. Service levels for dealerships are set out in their service agreement.

8. Responsibility

To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, or for decisions made using illustrative figures. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or other South African law.

9. Changes and law

We may update these terms and will change the date at the top when we do. These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.
